The Solution
The Solution
A participatory foundation for Italy
A new land stewardship model
We are creating a participatory foundation dedicated to access to land, regenerative agriculture, and land steward incubators. Inspired by successful initiatives in France, Germany, and the Netherlands, we draw from the experience of organizations like Terre de Liens, Kulturland, and Lenteland, which have pioneered concrete solutions for securing access to land, spreading regenerative agriculture, and supporting new generations of farmers.
Turning land into a common good
Through the foundation, we will recover and protect land at risk of speculation, neglect, or abandonment, ensuring its long-term stewardship. Acting as a “land safe”, the foundation will channel financial resources to secure farmland as a shared and safeguarded asset. This guarantees that agricultural land remains dedicated to regenerative farming, shielded from market speculation and environmental threats.
And entrusting it to its stewards
We will assign land to those who cultivate, care for, and regenerate it through agroecological and regenerative projects. By implementing management contracts, we will consolidate existing virtuous farming realities and create opportunities for new initiatives to emerge. Land, forests, and mixed natural assets will be entrusted to those who uphold the principles of the foundation’s statute, ensuring their responsible and regenerative use.
Transforming land into a common good
While training future generations
Sustaining the land for generations means training those who will protect and cultivate it. We will create a diffused training program supported by wise farmers, to provide the ecological and economic skills necessary for regenerative farm management. This will ensure that future custodians of the earth can produce healthy food, medicinal plants, energy, and ecosystem services while restoring rural, wild, and urban environments.
Together in a collective effort
We are united by the common vision of bringing land back to the commons, shielding it from speculation and environmental degradation. Managing land as a commons means balancing the needs of farmers, local communities, other living beings and future generations. Our shared goal is to safeguard agricultural land for regenerative farming and ecosystem restoration, ensuring long-term ecological resilience and a thriving future for all.
We’ve chosen a participatory foundation as the ideal legal structure for land access initiatives in Italy. With its statute and governance model outlined, this foundation provides a flexible and inclusive organizational framework to support our mission.
